All Lives Matter

It has been too long since I have written last. I took a short break after finishing a three week English Composition course for college. In this course I had to write approximately four to five hours a day for three weeks solid. My fingers became sore and my brain went into shut-down mode. Although I did pass with a B plus I was a little disappointed with myself with my final exam. But I digress.

It has been four weeks since I have written for Pastor’s Blog and obviously there has been a lot going on since that time. The political race is heating up, Britain is exiting the European Union, the shooting of two black men by police officers in different states, and the six  police officers killed in the line of duty in Dallas by an angry black man. These are all tragedies in their own right and there will be ripple effects from each one of these actions.

It would be easy to get caught up in each one of these debates and react in a way that is ungodly simply because of the emotions attached to our humanity.

Everyone has an opinion on politics, life, and a myriad of subjects great and small. Yet, when emotions drive others to respond in ways that are not pleasing to God and they make Christians look ridiculous it may be time to keep our opinions to ourselves unless sought after. Social media has made it so easy to post one’s opinions and comments about things that create dissension and discord. I have seen everything from politics to race baiting and not one argument is won, neither has it swayed one individual that I am aware of. The only thing that it has done is open wounds and create confusion and anger among friends and families .

Everyone has an opinion on the Black Lives Matter campaign. While I can never condone any murder of any human being, whether that is abortion or the killing of someone in cold blood. I do recognize that not all hold to my way of thinking. If they did abortions would be abolished and murder would be non-existent.

Abortion is a murder with intent and time to think about what you are doing. Yet, I see lives being lost with a fine line between murder and self-defense. Police officers are being placed in a role everyday where their lives are subject to interpretation by the media and social media. Do they protect themselves and their families well being first or do they have to be willing to die at every turn. While I know that there may be “Bad Cops” out there I do not believe that every police officer is bad and neither is every “Black Person” bad. I simply believe that “All Lives Matter.”

It may be time that we step back and let the law take its course instead of allowing fear, uncertainty, and hate-mongering to drive us to rash decisions and unreal opinions. We are living in a time the bible calls “The Last Days.” It is this time where brother will turn against brother, father against son, and mother against daughter. It is this time that the enemy, Satan, will take advantage of any inconsistencies in our walk with God and allow us to get caught in trivial things that amount to nothing. It is these little foxes that can spoil the vines.

While we should keep our eyes on God and know that while we may be in this world we are not of this world. Simply put, “This world is not my home” or my resting place.

Luke 21:36King James Version (KJV)

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

I’m not saying that we can’t voice our opinions on certain subjects but we should keep in mind that our words and our lives are the only witness that many will ever see, concerning God. That includes what is seen and written on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It may be time to plant seeds of salvation instead of discord. It is God’s will that all should be saved.

2 Peter 3:9King James Version (KJV)

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

If I read this particular scripture correctly and I know that I do, “All Lives Matter” and we should start acting and talking like they do.
